Capital Project Sales Tax V Referendum Question Must a special one percent sales and use tax be re-imposed in Aiken County for not more than seven (7) years to raise the amounts specified for the following purposes: I. The first $8,148,257 received by Aiken County under the Capital Project Sales and Use Tax shall be distributed, subject to the procedures set forth in the Capital Project Sales Tax V ordinance adopted by County Council, to the following municipalities as they are alphabetically listed below: A. $2,397,852 for the following projects within the Town of Burnettown, such projects listed herein in the priority in which the net proceeds are to be expended as determined by Burnettown Town Council: $600,000 for an amphitheater (for concerts, events, etc.) $200,000 for beautification to include streetlights, landscaping, murals to create a town square $400,000 for water line and tank upgrades $200,000 for water works equipment $150,000 for cameras, security, sound system upgrades for the following: Town hall, Maintenance Shop, Community Center, Police Department, Museum, Sassafras Park, Veterans Park, Willie Whaley Park, water well and tanks $200,000 for park upgrades to include Sassafras Park, Willie Whaley Park, Veterans Park and medians $150,000 for water works vehicle replacements and upgrades $250,000 for patrol car replacements, upgrades and equipment $180,000 for Police Department, Community Center and Town Hall upgrades $47,000 for Maintenance Shop upgrades $20,852 for Museum upgrades B. $1,224,598 for the following projects within the Town of Jackson, such (leveling of property for safety) $181,293 for the upgrade of Old School Rd Park to include: 60 x 34 Gazebo with restrooms Cameras, concrete slab for gazebo area Fence around playground area for safety Fence around basketball court for safety Pickleball court (maintenance to existing tennis court) Scoreboard for baseball field Security lights with timers for basketball court and baseball field Town sign for recreation park Signage for park (hours of operation / precautions) Outline baseball field to include lines and installation of bases II. The next $255,869,743 received by Aiken County under the Capital Project Sales and Use Tax shall be distributed proportionally, subject to the procedures set forth in the Capital Project Sales Tax V ordinance adopted by County Council, among the following three jurisdictions in the percentages shown: The City of North Augusta, the City of Aiken, and Aiken County for the following purposes: A. $48,633,586 for the following projects for the City of North Augusta, such projects listed herein in the priority in which the net proceeds are to be expended as determined by North Augusta City Council: $7,000,000 for Downtown Development and Improvements (pedestrian and vehicular traffic safety improvements, downtown greenway connector, utilities undergrounding, property acquisition, amenities) $4,250,000 for Park Improvements (Summerfield, Riverview Park, Creighton, Maude Edenfield) $500,000 for North Augusta/Aiken County Project -
