Must a one percent (1%) sales and use tax be levied in the Town of West Union for no more than eight (8) years for the purpose of allowing credit against certain municipal ad valorem tax liability and for the purpose of raising the amounts specified for the following purposes?
(1) $1,200,000 for purchase of property and construction/renovation for updated and modernized Police Department, Town Hall, Utilities Office, and other government services spaces.
(2) $150,000 for repair, replacement, and/or addition at West Union Town Park of ADA-compliant equipment and other materials and equipment for the playground; picnic tables and facilities; and a dog park.
(3) $400,000 for recreational improvements at the Town-owned property located at 1210 West Main Street to include a splashpad; a walking path, parking, and driveway; a DHEC-required restroom, and necessary sewer service installation.
(4) $300,000 for redesign, construction, and paving of parking and any required construction of pedestrian areas at the existing Town Hall building.
Total: $2,050,000
INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS: All qualified electors of the Town of West Union desiring to vote in favor of imposing the tax for the stated purpose of allowing a credit against certain municipal ad valorem tax liability (municipal property taxes) and for the purpose of raising the amount specified above shall vote 'YES," and all qualified electors opposed to levying the tax shall vote "NO."
